Security
Central FirewallITS operates and manages a central firewall for University sections that request such services. This firewall operates on internal network boundries and can be configured to protect from certain types of on campus traffic as well as off campus. SSL CertificatesITS's security office can arrange for purchase of SSL certificates for University servers. Central Antivirus/SPAM GatewayITS runs a central email anti-virus and anti-SPAM gateway. Security auditsIn the future, the ITS Security Officer will be able to provide a framework for security audits relating to IT and overall security of IT Resources. Network SecurityITS will occasionally run scans of the University's network for known vulnerabilities, and will contact administrators of those networks to resolve any problems these scans bring to light. In additional, ITS maintains a list of ports filtered for and by the University. Security responseIn addition, ITS provides a central point of contact for resolution and reporting of IT security incidents, such as external reports of copyright infringement and network intrusion attempts from hosts on UWA's network.
