Student Web Page Policy
|
Information Technology Services (ITS) no longer supports
student web pages or maintains a directory of such pages. The
policy below is applicable to student web pages that currently
exist.
Since the student server is part of UWA, it is necessary that
web pages on the machine conform to University standards. The
rules and guidelines are presented below. You should read and be
familiar with these if you plan to create and maintain web pages
on the student server.
Rules
General standards
Any webpage on the student server must conform to the
following minimum standards:
- No material that is unlawful, obscene or inappropriate to
the image University of Western Australia wishes to
present.
- No material that infringes Australian copyright law. Prior
written consent must be obtained before anything "substantial"
is displayed - this includes songs and lyrics, photographs, and
drawings.
- No commercial material.
- No defamatory comments.
- Any links must be explicit as to their destination - links
cannot be misleading.
- The page must contain the date that the information was
last current.
Note:
In addition to the above rules, ITS may have to apply
further restrictions to meet AARNet access policy and the
budget limits of ITS . Web pages that receive a very high
number of accesses from off campus can result in significant
network load and traffic expense for ITS.
