One of the University's key goals is to be ranked among the top 50 universities in the world within the next 50 years. The provision of information, technology and communications services is a key factor in enabling this goal. A University wide IT Strategic Directions Statement (April 2007) has been developed by Information Technology Services with University-wide consultation, and has been endorsed by the Vice Chancellor’s Information Management Board. In parallel, an Information Management Review was undertaken for the University and a report published. Together, these documents articulate the vision and strategies for managing Information Technology across the University. A University-Wide IT Management Plan is currently being developed that expands on the vision and strategies articulated in the Information Technology Strategic Directions Statement and the Information Management Review Report. The University-wide IT Management Plan will outline how IT services are currently delivered across the University and will propose the most efficient, effective and workable way in which Information Technology services should be delivered in future. It will show linkages between the Information Technology Strategic Directions Statement, the Information Management Review Report and the Operational Priorities Plans of individual Faculties and Administrative Units. The University’s Vision for Information Technology is: The University will be recognised for creating an innovative and flexible Information Technology environment conducive to supporting teaching, learning, research and the community it serves. The University’s Mission in the use of Information Technology is: To support and enable a University wide Information Technology environment where quality systems, services and technology can be delivered and supported to meet the diverse needs of students, staff and the community.
