Security & availability
The University Website Office is responsible for ensuring the availability and security of the Content Management System (CMS). AvailabilityThe CMS is implemented on dedicated hardware with a range of backups and failovers in place: - The CMS servers are located in the University Communications Services (UCS) data centre.
- A spare machine is available in the event of failure.
- An automatic failover switches in the event of failure without operator intervention.
- The servers are included in UCS's nightly tape backups on a four week rotation.
- Two scripts make backups of the CMS contents on an hourly basis in 48 hour rotation, and nightly with a 14 day rotation.
- The servers are included in UCS's service monitoring.
SecurityThe CMS offers a range of security and access levels. Additional steps have been taken to secure the CMS servers. - UWA intranet specific sites are available.
- Password protected sites and/or pages are available.
The CMS is not intended to host highly sensitive information that would otherwise be hosted on SSL secured servers. | Back
