Web Site Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Adding Editors to your site

To create users you must first be a User Manager. To become a User Manager you need to get the consent of your site's Content Custodian. To assign users Editor status you must also be a Site Admin, you will need Content Custodian authorisation for this too.

Simply send an email to the ITS Service Desk copying in the Content Custodian with your request.

The next step is to by click the "Users" link at the top left in MySource then navigate to your respective organisation in the hierarchy.

Select your Organisation

Once you have clicked on your organisation, scroll down to the box labelled "New User:" read the next few paragraphs and add the user name you want them to have and their job title in the box below.

For users with a Cyllene account, just use their Cyllene name and their password should work fine.

Users with @admin account work slightly differently, the @admin is used in the username. So, if my email address is dan@admin.uwa.edu.au then you should create me as a MySource user with the user name dan@admin. The password will, again, be the usual password, like the Cyllene users. (Note: some older admin users will still need to use their @acs usernames)

Other accounts work too, like user@law and user@ecom, if in doubt, check with the Weboffice.

For people without Cyllene or other accounts that use radius authentication (like: @acs; @admin; @law; @ecom) just make up a user name for them and look at the MySource Messages box (see below) which will automatically generate a password when you click on the little pencil icon.

You will be taken to a screen to add further details about the user, like full name and email address.

To add the new user as a Site Editor, Page Editor or Front-end Page Editor click on the "Security" tab at either Site or Page level and add the new user name in the "New Editor?" box. The FAQ page "What am I allowed to do on my site?" contains an explanation of what each of these user statuses can do.

Only the Weboffice can create new Site or Page Admins.
