PCs and Printers
ITS currently only supports computer hardware, printers and PDAs that have been purchased through ITS. Any equipment purchased by
any other means will not be supported by ITS.
ITS can provide locally supported staff with any of the Standard Hardware.
ITS has a wide selection of supported printers, to cater to different printing requirements. All supported equipment must be
purchased through ITS.
ITS provides a support service for approved mobile devices/PDAs purchased through ITS. All devices costs are charged to the relevant department. The approved devices function as mobile phones, while also enabling staff to access their email, Outlook calendars and limited access to the internet from both on and off campus. The device will be purchased through and pre-configured by ITS.
Please note that this PDA service is currently only available to Central Administration staff, and that only PDAs purchased through ITS under this program will be supported by the ITS Service Desk.
SoftwareAll standard laptop and desktop pcs supplied by ITS come with a
standard suite of software installed. This includes:
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
- Microsoft Office Professional 2003
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
Additional software can be requested through the ITS Service Desk. Most software has associated
licensing fees, however, which ITS will charge to your department
as appropriate. Citrix is a work-from-home solution provided and supported by ITS to allow staff to access their work documents and emails from their home PC. It is a web-based system, and can accessed through the Internet Explorer web browser on any Windows XP machine. For more information on accessing this system please read the documentation and conditions of use on the Citrix webpage before contacting the ITS Service Desk.
UWA maintains a number of on-site systems which
are not directly supported by ITS. Support information for these
systems can be found at the following links: | Is my local support provided by ITS? | You will be able to confirm that your PC is managed by ITS by looking for a label bearing the letters ACSxxx, ADMxxx or ITSxxxxx on your computer, where the x's denote the number. It will have been placed in a highly visible position with easy accessibility for the user, usually on the front or top of the computer box. If you have any problems with the performance of any of this equipment please contact the ITS Service Desk. If your PC is not managed by ITS please contact your local IT Support Staff. |
