Staff Equipment Purchases

ITS provides two levels of service relating to the purchase and management of IT and telecommunications equipment.

Level 1 - Recommended Standards and General Advice

Level 2 - ITS Supported Equipment Purchase and Management

Recommended Standards and General Advice

All UWA IT and telecommunications equipment should be purchased in line with the University's Strategic Procurement policies including using preferred suppliers for items such as PCs and laptops.

In addition, ITS recommends that all IT and telecommunications equipment comply with the following minimum standards:

Desktop Standards
Server Standards

It should be noted that all hardware to be connected to the ITS supported networks MUST be authorised by ITS prior to purchase.

If a system is purchased and connected without ITS authorisation ITS reserves the right to block access completely and without notification.

ITS Supported Equipment Purchase and Management

ITS Desktop Supported Areas - ITS provides desktop support to specified areas. All IT equipment for these areas must be purchased through ITS including PCs, laptops, PDAs (Personal Digital Assistant), printers, scanners, servers, routers and switches.

Telecommunications Equipment - all telecommunications equipment should be ordered through ITS. If you have any queries or wish to order telecommunications equipment please contact ITS Service Desk.
