Cyllene FAQs

I use broadband/another dialup service and have no trouble collecting my UWA mail, but cannot always send. Why?

A mail configuration includes an item labelled as an "outgoing" or "SMTP" mail server. When you use a service other than UWA to connect to the internet, you cannot use a UWA server in this field. We do not allow "relaying" of email; this is a measure to prevent spammers trying to hide their source by routing their mail through UWA (through meaning in and out again).

Your Internet Provider should have supplied documentation which includes the name of their Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server. Please use that instead.

The path to the mail configuration might be:

  • PC Eudora: Tools/Options/Getting Started/SMTP Server (Outgoing)
  • PC Outlook: Tools/E-mail Accounts/View or change existing email accounts, then Next/(Select your account)/Change/Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
  • PC Outlook Express: Tools/Accounts/Mail/(Select your account)/Properties/Servers/Outgoing mail (SMTP)
  • Mac Eudora: Special/Settings/Getting Started/SMTP Server
  • Mac Mail (OS X): Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Account Information/Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
  • Mac Entourage: Tools/Accounts/Mail/Edit/SMTP server
