Cyllene FAQs

What is the difference between a cyllene username, a cyllene address and a cyllene password?

A username is an identifier on a system, in this case the server (computer) called cyllene. It is not secret and is the "name" by which we refer to the account. It may also be referred to as a Login or Login ID. There is usually a limit to its length and currently on cyllene there is a maximum of 8 characters. The username is often the first part of an email address - see next paragraph.
The cyllene address is the combination of the username (see above) and the full mail server name, giving a format such as xyz@cyllene.uwa.edu.au

The password is a secret code which the user sets, so that only that person can access the mailbox, files and services associated with the username.
