AV - Support for Academic Lectures

Policy

Provided the correct booking procedure is adhered to and sufficient notice is given, the Audio Visual Unit will ensure that the requested equipment or service will be provided at the time and place booked. This service is free of charge for academic lectures in common teaching facilities. A fee applies to all other users and all non-common teaching venues.

If an audio visual emergency occurs during a lecture, the lecturer should telephone the Audio Visual Unit on extension 2026. (Most lecture theatres are equipped with telephones.)

When the Audio Visual Controller receives an emergency request he/she will dispatch the nearest available Assistant immediately. If the Assistant is unable to rectify the problem promptly he/she will call for assistance from the Audio Visual Technician.

Audio Visual staff will provide emergency assistance during lectures as the highest priority.

Any lecturer requiring assistance or instruction in the use of audio visual equipment should arrange this with the Audio Visual Unit at the time of making the original booking (refer to Instruction of Users of Audio Visual Equipment).

All users of audio visual equipment outside of normal hours who require on-call technical support or instruction must request this support when placing their booking. A fee applies to all users and venues for this service. The current charge is $5 per hour for on-call and $40 per hour for call out.
